Thee More Shallows – The Dutch Fist

Lo-fi keyboards (think Stereolab), glitchy guitars, mixed with dark vocals (think She wants Revenge mixed with Aracade Fire).   So what does it mean, it means oddly moving, atmospheric, and an audible delight.

Shame I only found this band about two hours ago.   Their latest offering is called “Book of Bad Breaks” and was released in 2007.

And for those that are into labels – their sound has been categorized as “Sadcore” (aka Slowcore).

Wiki definition:

The term slowcore, generally used interchangeably with sadcore, refers to a subgenre of alternative rock that developed from the downbeat melodies and slower tempos of late 1980s indie rock.

Wiki Bio:

Thee More Shallows are a three-piece San Francisco based experimental indie rock band formed in 2001, consisting of song-writer Dee Kesler, Chavo Fraser and Jason Gonzales. The key elements of their sound usually consist of soft, whispered introspective vocals against a backdrop of finger-picked guitar and synthesized elements, with influences ranging from classical to electronica.
