If you like Koop, Waldeck, Nicola Conte you’ll enjoy this track by King Kooba. This track as a nice hip, jazzy, downtempo vibe with breathy vocals.
A little more info from King Kooba’s wiki:
King Kooba is the duo of producer Matt Harris (DJ Shuff) and Charlie Tate. They are an electronica DJ duo from the United Kingdom. Legend says that they were formed over a pint of beer at Charlie’s Mom’s pub in London, England. They are currently signed to the Om Records label, and have done work for many of their compilations, such as the Om Lounge series. Their style consists of
a mixture of funk, soul, latin, jazz, and hip hop, with some electronic elements such as synthesizers and drum machines. Some of their music, such as the song “Blue Mosque”, are influenced by Middle Eastern.
Down tempo hip-hop rhythms with jazzy guitar riffs and the breathy vocals of Regina Janssen lay the foundation for this track. Think Portishead meets French pop vocals. Nice mix indeed!
My favorite track off of Felix Da Housecat’s new album is “MovieDisco” with its Kraftwerk type synths and ladytron-ish vocals
The fourth studio album, “Seventh Tree” by British electronic duo Goldfrapp is scheduled for release by Mute Records on February 26, 2008. Goldfrapp have described the album as a “sensual counterpoint to the glitterball glamour of Supernature”, their last studio album of new material in 2005. The album’s first single, “A&E”, is scheduled to be released on February 12, 2008.
The cut we have for you today is called “Little Bird”. I dig the psychedelic sounds, beatles-esque bass line, and etheral vocals on this track. The album as a whole is major departure from “Supernature”.
Give this track at least a listen up to the 2:40 mark to really get the effect of this track.
Chk chk chk side project from John XI Pugh and Gorman with a friend named Maddy. The sound is nice departure from the guitar-driven tunes typical of !!!. With Free Blood, their is a nice mix of electronic, punk and pop to produce a great dance punk track.
