Ohh what a pay off toward the end of this track when you hit the bridge that just transcends. These boys are destinted for great things, and are screaming for a placement on the HBO show, “How to Make it in America” — hint, hint mr music supervisor, Scott Vener!
Back again with another excellent track from Black Light Dinner Party (BLDP). If you dig Miike Snow, then this group is highly recommended. If you missed my previous post on them, you can read/hear it here. Vocals and production just suck me in and I get lost the melancholy of it all. To borrow a cliched term from baseball, these guys are batting a thousand.
Black Light Dinner Party’s second release Small Boxes highlights the foundation of their sound – thick, off-kilter beats, saturated basslines and vintage electronics paired with glowing harmonics, breathing vocals and elegant, heartfelt arrangements. The first piece of music since their debut single, ‘Older Together’, which hit #3 on hypemachine in it’s first week, Small Boxes continues the BLDP tradition – LA beats rolling along with bohemian ease, New York synths on a frosted Sunday morning and Lush Parisian melodies, always with a taste for the bittersweet.
