This track has a killer chorus that is sticky sweet and is catchy as all get out. It has a smooth disco undertone to it with falsetto vocals and funky bass. One of my favorite tracks to date this year. There is no extraneous bits here, it’s all crafted to perfection. teeballpaul is a one-man-band based here in Los Angeles, hence the Southern California vibe you hear on the track.
Deep house number with an old school vibe from Wilson Knickit. The bassline has a strong hook and layered with the vocals of “Everybody’s fine when we got sunshine” seals the deal. I can only imagine how strong this plays out on proper sound system – it’s built to rattle the dance floor. Wilson Knickit is a producer/dj from UK.
This track showcases the vocal harmony of The Shadowboxers which is something of a trade mark for them. The music is more on the experimental side for R&B in the verse sections. This is not a bad thing and for me is what hooked me from the start. The chorus is on point and the vocal harmony reminds me Bee Gees. The music in the chorus is more on the disco side of the fence with the guitar and drums but has a modern flair with the drone-ish bassline. “Well the only thing that stays the same is that Nothing ever does” – love that line.
