Always a good week when new Big Black Delta music drops especially when it’s his forth full length album aptly named ‘4’. My favorite tracks from Jonathan Bates (aka Big Black Delta) are the up beat tempo tracks with his vocals and a splash of melancholy. It’s those tracks that connect for me and ‘Vessel’ is one of them. ‘Vessel’ has a sweet undercurrent of sadness but locked in a lovely melody. Favorite line in the track ‘All I get are lessons, Through a broken heart’.
Laid back and sunny is the new Dim Sum track, ‘Is It Fine’. This is the first single from the up coming EP due out this September. The track is an indie electronic pop tune with jangly guitars and a heavy bass sound. The vocals are cool and relaxed and the vibe is just chill. Dim Sum is a producer from France.
Track opens with an electronic keys and then the ticking of a clock with a piano accompaniment kicks in. The build up on the track is so satisfy once the chorus lands. The song is about feeling disconnected in a world that has gone dark and searching for that light of hope. The vocals are melodramatic and fit the mood perfectly. The song came about as a joint effort with film maker Kirk Truman who shot black and white film of London’s Covid lock down. For fans of UNKLE.
