‘Overcome The Hurt’ is the first track that Dead Ott and Asher Dust worked on for their debut album ‘What Comes Around’. Asher Dust delves deep into his lyrical arsenal, and lets fly with a tale of never letting your demons get the better of you
‘What Comes Around’ is the debut collaboration between MC/producer Dead Ott and vocalist Asher Dust. Both hailing from Oxford, UK and with a wealth of recordings in their respective back catalogue’s, the two first teamed up in 2015 with the intention of recording a couple of features, but after working solidly for the past year those initial tracks have morphed into their thirteen track debut album. It’s a diverse sonic collection of broken beats, trip hop stylings and downtempo ditties all blessed with the unique vocal talents of Asher Dust. With subject matter ranging from youth violence (Flowers On The Concrete), identity (Losing Me), civil rights (Get Involved), to transgender issues (Friend Of Mine) and more, it’s clear that Asher Dust would get an A from Moe Dee for sticking to themes. Dead Ott’s productions branch off from his usual brand of UK Hip Hop, as the beats touch on trip hop, electronic, soul and more.
A blend of several genres come together on the latest release from High Rule. They take a electronic pop structure and inject some laid back rhymes that gel well with the MGMT- esque synth lead line. Think Kid Cudi meets MGMT.
Indie-leaning hip-hop duo from Chicago, High Rule, is composed of artists Buoy and Seis. The duo met in 4th grade over their affinity for The Legend of Zelda, which inspired their name. While attending the University of Wisconsin, the duo started creating music together. Their debut single “Touch” drew attention after peaking at the #2 position on the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart. Since their first release, the pair has continued to make waves by releasing several singles while working on their forthcoming EP.
