Meg Smith – Cross My Heart I Hope U Die

A bit of Amy Winehouse vibe on this new track from Meg Smith. It’s has a chilled and sophisticated sound in the verse section and then gets a bit more groovy and a bit darker in the chorus. I really appreciate the pre-chrous line of ‘…boys like you’ and the pay off when the chorus does land. Now if the title of the track didn’t give it away, then rest assured the lyrics make it painfully obvious this not someone you want to tick off in a romantic way.

Kitten Heel – Needs To Go

A sonic love letter to 70’s disco and punk with an 80’s esque synthpop vocal delivery. Yes, they seem to have captured three decades and several genres all rolled into one. Has a bit of a tropical feel but is pushed by a disco beat and a synth bassline. Think LCD Soundsystem meets Satin Jackets meets an 80’s indie pop lead singer.

Latroit – Don’t Give Up ft Charlz (Peter Gabriel cover)

Doing an excellent job of retaining the feel of the original but also transmuting that vibe into a new house framework. Give it till the two minute mark to really set in. Hopefully we get a longer edit of this track as the currently 3:16 seems to short for this track. LATROIT is recently best know for his GRAMMY Award for ‘Best Remixed Recording’ – Depeche Mode ‘You Move (Latroit Remix). Charlz also does an excellent job here with her shimming vocals and tone. This is the first release on Jason Bentley’s (KCRW) new record label Secret Technology.
