  • Jai Paul – BTSTU

    Happy Friday and with it comes a killer new track from Jai Paul.  This track starts off really quiet, so hang-in there for about 15 seconds.

    Delicate vocals, dark throbbing bass, and diplo-esque beats adorn this track. Got this tip from Dan Black, via his tweet, “Dan__Black: RT @ads_b: The unknown UK producer that @dan__black has on high rotation: http://ow.ly/2chah”

    Also found this Dan Black quote from http://adambaidawi.com/blog, which is probably the best description of this track:

    “He’s got something unique–it’s weird. Somewhere in between Burial and Prince: sort of dubstep, haunting vocals…really amazing. I think that kid’s going to end up being huge. I think it’s the first or second thing he’s posted.”

    I agree with Dan completely, I have had this stuck on repeat for the entire morning.  Beautiful, sublime, and engaging — what more do you need?

  • Jamaica – I Think I Like U 2

    Summer Rock inspired fun is what the boys from Jamaica produce, with a little help from Justice’s Xavier de Rosnay and Daft Punk sound engineer Peter Franco on production.  Jamaica rose out of the ashed of Poney Poney, from which Antonie and Flo regrouped to form Jamaica.

    Full length out titled, “No Problem” is out August 23rd.

  • Mock & Toof – Farewell to Wendo (ft. Pollyester)

    I would best describe this as indie-tronica. Has a fun plucked banjo-sounding lead, which is my kind of twisted, and a mellotron organ that holds it all together. Vocals run along the line of CocoRosie. Mock & Toof built their rep on remixing the likes of Hot Chip, Groove Armada, Zero 7, and Sia to name a few.

    This track is taken off they thier latest release entitled, “Tuning Echoes”

    Mock & Toof are two London based producers, Duncan Stump (Mock) and Nick Woolfson (Toof), who record for Tiny Sticks (UK), Mule Musiq (Japan) & DFA Records. They were initially noticed with their remix for The Juan Maclean, which was quickly followed up by their re-edit of Madonna’s Lycra Virgin. Following more remixes for the likes of Hot Chip, The Scissor Sisters & Maps, Mock & Toof strengthened their position with widely acclaimed singles for Tiny Sticks (Black Jub), Mule Musiq (Zomby) & Rvng Intl (Digits).
