  • Candie Payne – By Tomorrow

    candiepayne.jpg

Candie Payne hails form Liverpool and has that revival Motown sound I love, think Amy Winehouse and The Pipettes meets St. Etienne.   This track would fit nicely on a James bond sound track, I’m of course taking about a 1960’s Sean Connery, “BOND, JAMES BOND” version.

  • Mocean Worker – Shake ya Boogie

Nice mix of samples, loops and real instrumentation. This track mixes 1930’s swing/Cab Calloway coolness, old big band music, electronic wizardry, and modern beats.

This track is taken off of Mocean Workers fifth album called appropriately enough, “Cinco De Mowo

  • Matthew Dear – Neighborhoods

Funky mid tempo dance track.   Matthew Dear is a top act in the emerging “micro-house” scene.   Basically micro-house is, according to the wiki on Microhouse, “a subgenre of house and glitch music …Microhouse strips house music down to a more minimal and sparse aesthetic, in the same vein as tech house.”.   I love the dead pan vocals on this track.
