  • Marquis Compressor – Quays

    Quays

Marquis Compressor picks up right where under appreciated band Discovery (the side project of Vampire Weekend/Ra Ra Riot Side ) left off.  It’s a mix of soul, electronic, and broken synthetic beats.

    About this song

Alternative project from an influential London-based producer/engineer, Marquis Compressor is the secret alias that’s making music for music’s sake. The soul of r&b, the room-shake of filter house, the grit of alternative rock and the tight early-reflections of the eighties; it’s all there with crisp transients, exotic ambiance and dramatic effect. Named after the elusive piece of studio equipment, loved by many, updated by it’s designer unsatisfying so and defiantly never to be re-released or updated, Marquis Compressor (the band) parallels this steadfast refusal to conform to the masses whilst providing something unique, sought-after and elusive.

  • Thorne – LoveSick

    ThorneLoveSick

Got another track from Thorne and this time out we got a more energetic track that still showcases his vocals in a electronic R&B framework.  LoveSick has an unapologetic bassline that smacks you in the face and demands some attention.

  • HUNDREDS – What Remains

HundredsMore introspective electronic pop along the lines of the XX but is a bit more dystopian sounding.

    BIO:

    HUNDREDS – ” Whats Remains”

Brother-sister duo Hundreds release stunning, 3-D animated video for latest single ” What Remains ” – the first taste of new album The Wilderness (out via Embassy of Music 04/11/2016)

Created by Lars Nagler , the video revolves around themes of destruction and anihilation of the world, exploring the relationship between humanity and the earth, and nature as a formidable force.

The dark, introspective lyrics and ethereal instrumentation are perfectly complemented by Nagler’s manipulation of natural elements of rock, water, and wind, which fight back against the destruction of dilapidating industry and big black cities.

The video communicates the message that in the end, nature and the healing power of Mother Earth will prevail.

“We live in a fast paced society where capitalism and greed win out over the need to care for our environment – where our governments will pass legislation for the good of the economy, without proper thought regarding the sustainance of our earth”.
