  • GRAACE – You Do You

It’s the emoting behind the vocals that make this track stand out and the overall production. The vocals have heart and the production has sizzle. The semi-laid back beat with house flourishes crown the achievement. That pre-chorus is such a nice build into the chorus that is sure to get the dance floor moving. Hats off the producer and of course to Graace on this stunning work.

  • TRZTN – Black Exit (ft. Paul Banks)

Had this land in a playlist for review a few days ago without knowing who the artist was. I was happily coding along when the voice hit me. I knew I recognized it but with the hard unrelenting slithering synth bass line threw me off. Sure enough when I checked the playlist it was none other than Interpol’s lead singer Paul Banks. I for one would love an entire album in this style with Paul on the lead vocals over a solid synth backing track. The beat on this number is sexy. Its deep and keeps moving forward with a swagger. Paul does an outstanding delivery which fits the mood perfectly. This track will be released on TRZTN (Tristan Bechet) forth coming full length album due out Jan 22. Also on that album is a collaboration with Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O.

    [Verse 1]
It’s nice of you to notice
I really had no time to throw this thing together
    Hey, its holding up
It’s right that you can see the beauty
Every summer leaf obscures the moon
    The big balloon, coming soon

    [Chorus]
    Feel, taste, obscene goddess
    Real, shake, venal daughters
    Drink, partake, crystal waters
    Slow, emotion, moving father

    We made it
We made it through time, time of sound mine

    [Verse 2]
It’s right that you can show this
You’re not like all these other lotus who refuse to bloom
    Here in this room
I like that you can see the beauty
Every summer leaf consumes sun doom
    That big typhoon, coming soon

    [Chorus]
    Feel, taste, obscene goddess
    Real, shake, venal daughters
    We made it
We made it through time, time of sound mine

  • GOGGI – Deep End

There is a certain type of melancholy in vocals that I love and this is exactly what we have here. It’s that mix of sweet and somber that just resonates at that perfect frequency. The melody is outstanding as well. The original is by Foushee. GOOGI here captured the best of the original and has framed it with a house driven beat. Also like the lead synth that has a horn sound to it. Hope we get a longer edit of this in the future.
