Marian Hill – like u do (Remix by Clear Eyes)

From the moment when the first kick drops this remix had me. I wasn’t familiar with the original version but was shocked when I heard a female vocal as opposed to the male vocal on the remix. As I checked out the original, which is solid on it’s own, this remix is more in my vein of electronic music that is slightly askewed. Clear Eyes take the original and infuses it with a dub step vibe and grounds the track with more emotion. The builds are never over the top but are tastefully done.

Clear Eyes is the artist project of Jeremy Lloyd from Marian Hill.

Mollono.Bass – No Silence (ft. Kuoko)

Pulsating electronic beats with a push and pull bassline is the frame work set for singer Kuoko who reminds me of Lykke Li. The track has a well constructed build that keeps things interesting with flourishes of new elements like the electric guitar, woodwind and wood percussive instruments. The song talks about a new relationship that is all encompassing to the point of losing oneself and almost losing their own identity. Mollono.Bass resides in Germany and Kuoko is an artist, songwriter and music producer from Hamburg.

Solomon Grey – Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good) Rozalla cover

If you don’t recall the original house number by Rozalla you might be overlooking genius this is. Solomon Grey took what was anthemic house number and placed it into another world with a much more intimate setting. This version has a melancholy feel, orchestral elements and a bit of post apocalyptic feel. This cover would sit beautifully at the end of a movie of where this is mass destruction but the victors are finally free of tyranny. Yes, very cinematic.
