Gravity Circus – Shuteye

This is the latest single from the duo Gravity Circus (Japanese Jimmy “Onibi” Nagaura Yabiko and Dutch German Ken “Toro” Luske). The track opens with up with a melancholy chord progression on acoustic guitar and Jimmy’s scratchy voice that is perfectly matched to the overall vibe. The track progresses to the chorus which is a blend of indie pop and electronica with it’s electronic textures that are tastefully placed. The melody of the chorus is beautiful as well as the ambience.

The song tells a tale of memories past that still haunt but with a yearning to let it be and to move forward.

Welcome Center – Is This All There Is?

Think a cross between Death Cab for Cutie and LCD Soundsystem and you land pretty near to this new releases from Welcome Center. This number has expressive vocals, rocking drums and synth elements. Dig that plucky bassline and Jesse Smiths’ voice riding high over it. Welcome Center is Jesse Smith and Aaron Sternick.

Ruby Red – Ozone

Laid back 80’s influenced track with a strong lead vocal. Ruby Red are Daniel Laner and Fernando Fine an indie-pop duo from Los Angeles. The origin of this track began with Daniel Laner’s dislike of flying as he states :

I couldn’t shake the feeling of being stuck in a sort of purgatory between the earth and the sky, and in that, the first line was born: ‘A long way to fall this time / Got even farther to climb.
