ZHU – Faded

Faded

Think a darker vibe but similar to Disclousure.

Press Release:

ZHU is an LA based vocalist/producer drawing from a range of dance music genres from house to disco to garage to hip-hop and synth-pop, along with his distinctly pristine voice and futuristic production. He has something an interesting backstory: start of February he uploaded an anonymous track of Outkast songs reworked to a dance floor medley titled ‘Moves Like Ms. Jackson’ which was quick to cause a bit of a frenzy online, being featured by an array of major dance music sites, with people wondering as to the identity of the artist behind it (with theories ranging from Duke Dumont to French Express to a collaboration between Disclosure and Outkast).

A week later he anonymously uploaded an original track titled ‘Superfriends’ a mashup of Gorillaz-esque synth funk with rough-and-ready 90’s hip hop bounce and pitched-down rap verses. The track quickly went to the top of the Hype Machine chart, and within a few weeks the two tracks accumulated a combined over half a million plays, without the artist even having an official moniker.

His first official track under his own name ‘Faded’ further shows his virtuoso skills with smoky midnight Italo disco, elastic garage keys, liquid falsetto and cunningly manipulated vocal production. It will be forthcoming on his label Mind Of A Genius, with details on release date to follow.
