Holy Ghost! – Bridge & Tunnel

HolyGhosts

This has such an old school throw back disco house sound that started to emerge in the early 80’s house parties.  You’ll know what I mean as soon as the arpeggio hits your ear drums.

BASECAMP – All That She Want’s (Ace of Base cover)

basecamp

Now this is an Ace of Base track I can listen to on repeat.   Was never a really a fan of Ace of Base, too sugar pop for my tastes, but this cover is excellent.

Short Bio:

Last year BASECAMP introduced themselves to the world with “Emmanuel,” a gorgeous and eclectic slice of R&B infused dance music that premiered with FACT Magazine. The response for “Emmanuel” was overwhelming, garnering praise from online publications like This is Fake DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Earmilk, and Indie Shuffle. The Nashville newcomers quickly followed up this strong debut with a FREE DOWNLOAD of their self-titled EP. Where “Emmanuel” left off, “2 Thingz”, “Rydia”, and “Smoke Filled Lungs” quickly picks up. Seductive vocals with an irresistible R&B timbre reminiscent of James Blake or SBTRKT’s Sampha coalesce with seemingly incongruous musical textures and chords to create beautiful tension in all four tracks of the EP.

The trio followed up the release of their EP with a slew of remixes from names such as Hayden James, Artful Dodger, Blacksmif, STWO, Joe Hertz, Blackedout, andThem Jeans.

Now Aaron Miller, Aaron C. Harmon and Jordan Reyes share a cover of the iconic 90s single “All That She Wants” with Clash Music. Originally recorded by Swedishpop group Ace of Base, “ATSW” re-imagined by BASECAMP is full of “codeine soaked synths, with melodies that display traces of a husky, skeletal take on R&B.” Keep and eye out for the forthcoming 7″ vinyl release featuring both “Emmanuel” and “ATSW”, and be sure to Catch BASECAMP live in Austin where they’ll take the stage for a string of shows at SXSW starting on the 12th of March.

The Olympics – 4U

4U

Electronic indie pop track which pulls and releases via it’s unique lead line.  The Olympics hail from Denmark  and are set to release one new track every month for 10 months culminating into a full album.

Bio:

Danish art-pop outfit The Olympics releases new single ”4U”
The Copenhagen based 5-piece released their debut album ”Mother” in 2011 to great
reviews and plenty of air time on national radio with the singles ”Bollywood” and ”Fires And Rivers”. In the meantime the band has been touring and releasing their melancholic and experimental EP ”Limbo” that still floats around on the internet on www.theolympics.dk/limbo.

With the forthcoming single ”4U”, The Olympics return to making left-field pop music.
The single is fundamentally driven by a repetitive beat of percussion and samples that lets the melody unfold and explode into an infectious chorus with the lyrics ”For you I didn’t do enough”.

On ”4U” The Olympics has gone for a less is more-approach, where every part plays a crucial role in creating the song’s specfic musical universe:

”With ”4U” we really wanted to get to the core of the song by not adding more than
what was needed for the song to unfold. We feel that this song represents the essense of
what we are – both as a band and producing collective.”, says lead singer Niklas Frost.

1 song every month for 10 months
”4U” is the first release in a series of 10 songs that will be released during the next 10
months – each month a new song will be set free. In the end the songs will be released
together as a full album.
