Collide -The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum

28 04 2008

Nice Latin flair meets gothic vibe on this cover of Fun Boy Three’s, “The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum” by Collide. Collide is “An electrogoth/industrial rock band founded in the early nineties, in Los Angeles, California, USA. The name comes from the collision of musical styles - ethereal vocals provided by kaRIN, industrial music provided by Statik.” (taken from Last.fm)

Carmen Rizzo - Ecounter (ft. Jem)

27 04 2008

jem_side.gif

Looks like Jem is getting back to business with this new collaboration with Carmen Rizzo (well know producer / remixer as well as KCRW darling). Jem mentions on her site, “after some fantastic hibernation time, I’m ready to get back to bizness - regenerated, rejuvenated, and ready to rock. I couldn’t be more excited about the new album and I sincerely hope you’re all gonna love it too!” I’m sure we will, her voice is up there with Imogen Heap for my money! This particular track can be found on Carmen Rizzo’s latest offering called, “Ornament of an Impostor”, which can be purchased at itunes.

D*R*I* - You Know I Tried

21 04 2008

This totally caught me off-guard, I found this on the HOT page on thesixtyone.com. Melting me with her Tracey Thorn-esque voice meets a downtempo soul songstress — this in a word is, WOW. The production on her album is no less amazing. Sometimes using hip hop loops with a jazz guitar and other times messing with loops in a fashion very similar to BENT.

This Track can be found on her 2007 release called, “Smoke Rings”

You can purchase her album here.

Nursery of Naughtiness - The Nameless

20 04 2008

nursery-of-naughtiness.jpg

Nursery of Naughtiness (N.O.N) are set to release their third offering, which is a three track EP called, “Lession 3 [EP] out April 21st. They have a similar vibe to The Prodigy and the big beats of a Fat Boy Slim production.

Be sure to stop by their myspace page to listen to other great tracks from their previous release.

Bio from Facebook page:

The Nursery of Naughtiness (N.o.N) began their sonic assault on the world when they clinched a record deal with Exceptional Records in 2006 after breakbeat supremo Rogue Element (signed under Exceptional records) heard an early demo on Radio

1. N.o.N’s purpose in mind was to create a new and exciting dance act to create dance music with a razor sharp edge. These guys fuse elements of tough breaks, electronica and ambient to create a diverse sound reminiscent of the likes of The Prodigy and Aphex Twin.

Nursery of Naughtiness continue to push their music to new boundaries. Expect big beats, live guitars, synths, chunky helpings of bass and the odd chilled out moment just for good measure. Heavy support from Steve Lamacq and Annie Nightingale on Radio 1 and singles of the week at both Beatport, 7Digital and iTunes. They have been remixed by the likes of Far Too Loud and Jon Kennedy.

N.o.N also gig as live 2 piece act with headlined shows in London, Manchester and Leeds under the belts and with many more shows to come. Expect bone crunching beats and bass mixed with live Mc’ing. It’s not to be missed!

Loving the TB303 bassline on this track.

This ep will be available for purchase from Beatport

Don’t know much about the artist but found her myspace here. She also has a really cool remix/mashup of Daft Punk’s track “Technologic” mashed up of Feist’s, “1 2 3 4″

Our sound is somewhat like Hot Chip meets The Postal Service meets The Knife and Royksopp. But speaking in a general sense you can classify our sound as indietronica.

Neon Neon - I Lust U (ft. Cate Le Bon)

10 04 2008

Here’s collaboration a between Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals front man) & Boom Bip.  What they have managed to pull off is a very stylist version of all things 80’s.  This also includes the concept for the album: An imagined soundtrack/bio pic for John DeLorean.  You know the maker of the cars used in Back to The Future.

On this particular track we hear 80’s styled drum machines of old school house parties and 80’s new romantic/synth pop music.
