Been looking forward to new Sufjan Stevens and he didn’t disappoint.  His latest offering, “I Walked” sees Sufjan embracing the electronic side of things.   He has stepped away from the narative and is looking inside himself to produce more intimate portraits.  You can find this track on his upcoming full length release titled, “The Age of Adz”.

Man and Unable, aka MAU, just sent this track in and it kills.  MAU originally hailing from all over the world (Denmark, Portugal, France, Germany and Israel) are now based in Portugal and are set to release their third full length album later this year, from which this track was taken from.

Filled with odd electronic chirps and gurgles (perhaps the link in title “Arkanoid” to the video game?) meshes well with lead singer Luís F. de Sousa’s voice.  The verses on this track also remind me of something Frou Frou would have produced.

The chorus just sticks in my mind:

Just found this via http://shuffler.fm/.  The Teddybears released this single early this year from their sixth studio album called, “Devils’ Music”.   Catchy vocal hook and vintage styled synths warm my heart.  This is yet another track that reminds me of my beloved Disney electrical parade music (check this post as well for more Disney-esque sounds).

Somehow, this is what I had envisioned  MGMT’s second album to sound like — however, we all know how that turned out — in a nutshell, not good…

From start to finish, this track never lets up and just blooms with every listen.   Masterfully produced and mastered by one Bryan Cecil.  The production showcases the heartache and yearning for tranquility of Logan’s soul.  This track can be found on Logan’s latest release called, “I Killed Tomorrow Yesterday“.  However, there is a catch of sorts.  The only way you can get a hold of “I Killed Tomorrow Yesterday” is to make a donation to Portland’s Q Center.  100% of the profits go to directly to charity and NO middle men make any money off of it and this also includes Logan himself.  Anyone can donate however much they want.  There is no set price for the album.

From the short lived band Clor, is a track taken from their one and only self titled album, “Clor”.  Has a slight Duran Duran feel guitar wise on the track.  Clor were a five-piece post-punk/electropop band from Brixton, England. (taken from wiki)

This track is taken from the Animal Collective’s movie score for ODDSAC.  ODDSAC is an experimentl film featuring pyschedelic visuals.  Describing the movie, [AC's Avey] Tare continued: “The whole thing cohesively doesn’t have one narrative; it’s more of a visual or psychedelic thing. There are parts that are almost completely abstract, and there are parts that are little bit more live-action.” So yeah, it’s an Animal Collective movie, not Gone With the Wind. In an interview with Swedish magazine Bon, Robyn announced that she had plans to release three new albums in 2010. She said, “I got all these great songs so why not? [...] It’s been 5 years since Robyn and I didn’t want to wait with a release until they are all recorded, so I decided to start putting them out right away.” Robyn told Popjustice journalist Peter Robinson, “It’s been a long time since I actually made a record! And I was thinking of how to shorten that time down and Eric, my manager, came up with the idea of what if I just start releasing songs, then I can tour them, then I can make some more songs. We started working like that. I think once it starts it will make more sense – you can just keep releasing stuff without the long breaks.” [Taken from wiki]
