After what has felt like an eternity since his last release, albeit a leaked version of his album, “Great Shakes” back in 2007 is a new full length from the man himself, Whitey! His new album is titled, “Canned Laughter” and can be purchased here from Amazon: Canned Laughter. On this particular track whitey incorporates more dance floor ethos with a driving rock edge floor stomper in Dinosaur. And all i have to say is, welcome back Whitey! By the way the track starts off with “canned laughter” so let this track breath for a minute for it to really build.

He also has a new blog up here: http://njwhitey.wordpress.com/

Whitey – Dinosaur

Myspace

Lyrics:

DINOSAUR
DIDNT KNOW, HE WOULD FALL
-NOW HE’S GONE.
YEARS GO BY, SO MUCH TIME..
NUMBER ONE, LIVING IT, KILLING IT
-NOW HE’S GONE.
FORM TO FORM, LIFE KEEPS ON

EACH IN TURN
HAS A DAY IN THE SUN.
LIFE GOES ON
FORM TO FORM- TOOTH AND CLAW.
YOU AND ME,
AND EVERYBODY YOU CAN SEE,
ARE ANIMALS -
AND ANIMALS RISE AND FALL.

WE’LL NEVER END
WE CARRY ON
AND WE CAN NEVER KNOW
WHAT WE’LL BECOME.
IT’S SOMETHING OF A SYMPHONY
WHERE THE LITTLE NOTES
WERE YOU AND ME.
SKIN AND BONE, THATS ALL OF US
BECOME THE PAST, BECOME THE DUST
BUT WE’LL NEVER END – WE NEVER END.

Vocally this reminds me of Erlend Øye, and musically it reminds me of “The Whitest Boy Alive” remixes which feature Erlend Øye on vocals. That’s a compliment by the way, and I love the new direction Dan Snaith has taken with his latest offering. ”Swim” is due out April 19th.

“I got excited by the idea of making dance music that’s liquid in the way it flows back and forth, the sounds slosh around in pitch, timbre, pan…dance music that sounds like it’s made out of water rather than made out of metallic stuff like most dance music does,” Snaith says

Sounds great to me!
