Harking back to those 80′s Industrial, Gothic, Synthpop days are Cold Cave.   However, Cold Cave (aka Wesley Eisold) takes care to not just repeat the sound of the 80′s but to push it further for a more relevant sound for today.  Very strong Joy Division and New Order vibe on this track.  This track is taken from Cold Cave’s second full length titled, “Cherish the Light Years”.

Here’s a band I use to skateboard too back in the day called “The Young Gods“.  The Young Gods are a swiss industrail band that formed back in 1987.  “The band’s lineup has generally consisted of a vocalist, a sampler operator and a drummer. Their instrumentation often includes sampled electric guitars, drums, keyboards, and other samples. The lyrics are a mix of English, French and a bit of German.” (taken from Wiki)

My favorite track from them is “La Fille De La Mort” (aka, Daughter of Death), which has orchestral loops, accordions, and ruff french vocals (think a french Tom Waits).  This track is taken from their second album “L’Eau Rouge”, from 1989.

From their forth coming sophomore album, “Kontpab” which will be released this February 22nd 2008 comes their single “Problems”. Mixing elements of Industrial, Indie Rock, and Electronica and influences such as PIL, CAN, and Gang of Four can be heard. The entire album can be previewed here.
