Pogo – Alice

Found this on RCRDLBL website. This track is taken from Pogo’s 4 track ep title “Wonderland

Pogo, a 19-year-old Australian “experimental video editor” cut and spliced soundbytes from Walt Disney’s 1951 adaptation of Alice in Wonderland into a two-and-a-half minute psychedelic sample-fest of singing poppies and drumming dandelions. The film, as we all know, is already about as trippy as a G-rated feature can get, and the already super-hypnotic and eerie images from the movie lend themselves perfectly to something that sounds like an Avalanches b-side. The video was posted to YouTube about a year ago and strangely people are only posting it now, but it’s really quite incredible. “

Gotta check out the video for the track to get the full affect:

Ladytron – Ghosts

bio from last.fm:

Ladytron’s Biography

Ladytron is a contemporary electropop band based in Liverpool, England. The band takes their name from the song “Ladytron” on the 1972 self-titled debut album of the band Roxy Music.

Ladytron have been classified by press as an electroclash band, but they have never identified themselves with the scene. They said in a recent interview that they consider themselves as “Electronica with a fist”.

Ladytron is notable for not using sampling on their records or in their shows, instead playing everything live using synthesizers and their live performances include live guitar by Daniel Hunt, drums by Keith York and bass guitar by Andrea along with the synthesizers.

Ladytron’s lyrics are of a somewhat obscure nature, mostly dominated by banal images and snippets of everyday life, and sometimes written in Bulgarian by bulgarian band member Mira Aroyo.

Albums so far have focused on a balance between pop structures and a retro sound, and some more experimental leanings. Witching Hour saw a beefing up of their sound, leading the album to be described by Pitchfork as a “quantum leap record”.

Originally, Ladytron were known to perform in monochromatic military uniform-inspired outfits of black or olive drab, lending an edge of simplicity and asexuality to their stage presence.

Since the release of Witching Hour, the band seems to have abandoned military chic in favour of futuristic, Blade Runner-inspired fashions. Marnie and Aroyo have tended to wear futuristic, goth-style dresses while Wu and Hunt wear T-shirts and jeans.

Ladytron is now in Paris, recording their forthcoming album, which is being produced by Vicarious Bliss.

TheCocknBullKid – Matters of the Heart (Demo)

Give this track a couple of plays as it just grows and grows on you. This is a very well produced demo and can’t wait to hear her music in proper fashion, not to take away anything from this version mind you. Anita (aka cocknbullkid) is a UK resident and all of 22 years of age. And not only is she working on her own material but she also has some collaborations in pipeline, one of which is with Metronomy.
