Upbeat euro inspired house track with jamming vocals by Will Curry. This is the first track from my new collaboration called, Drop and Solo (aka Drolo) with Will Curry (aka Drop). We are currently in studio writing new material for an upcoming release, more news to follow shortly. We also have a site up at www.dropandsolo.com.
Here’s a remix which I made into a electronic pop feel good track with a slight Caribbean influence. In other words it’s my version of a what if — what if Hot Chip collided with Vampire Weekend — well, I think it would sound something like this:
Vocally this reminds me of Erlend Øye, and musically it reminds me of “The Whitest Boy Alive” remixes which feature Erlend Øye on vocals. That’s a compliment by the way, and I love the new direction Dan Snaith has taken with his latest offering. “Swim” is due out April 19th.
“I got excited by the idea of making dance music that’s liquid in the way it flows back and forth, the sounds slosh around in pitch, timbre, pan…dance music that sounds like it’s made out of water rather than made out of metallic stuff like most dance music does,” Snaith says
Tons Of Friends is the appropriately named first full length from Crookers due out March 8th. The album sees Crookers joining forces with the likes of Roisin Murphy, Kid Cudi, Soulwax, will.i.am, and others on a massive 22 track album.
The collaborations I am most looking forward to are Roisin Murphy and Kid Cudi. And what didn’t disappoint is this single from the album which features Miike Snow. Great, great music here.
