Skye – What’s Wrong With Me [Jim Noir remix]

12 10 2009

skyeedwards

Skye Edwards was the former lead singer for Morcheeba, who released a solo effort in 2006 called, “Mind How You Go”.  Funny enough Jim Noir gave this remix the Morcheeba trip hop treatment to full effect, laid back, smooth and sultry with a dash of 60’s psychedelic.

[New Album Alert] Skye’s second full length is titled, “Keeping Secret” due out later this year.

I AM OMNI – Shez A Diva

3 07 2009

iamomni_

Instrumentation reminds me of Whitey, for those that follow this blog know I love Whitey’s sound, mixed in with a 60’s soul guitar play that could have easily found it’s way onto a Beatles track.

This track is taken from I AM OMNI’s free EP titled, “IAMOMNI EP”, which can be downloaded from his site here.

The Bees – Chicken Payback

21 03 2009

bees

Catchy as all hell with 60’s inspired northern soul groove.  From the get-go, this tune is pure fun and would fit nicely on a motion picture soundtrack me thinks.

From wiki:

The Bees (known in United States as A Band of Bees) are an English band from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Although their sound is generally classified as indie rock or psychedelic music, the band have a colourful range of styles and influences, such as 1960s rock, country, reggae and jazz.

The Postmarks – 11:59 (Blondie cover)

2 12 2008

If one were to travel back in time too the Cavern Club where the Bealtes were discovered, and booked The Postmarks to play, they wouldn’t sound out of place.  The Postmarks have a 1960’s cavern sound that is mesmerizing and warm.  You can hear hints of bossa nova and Stereolab gracing their tracks.
